I soundtrack compulsively, almost; it happens a lot when I acquire a particularly loud headvoice. (This would be why I have three Rent playlists without a whiff of the actual soundtrack.) And since we're working on moving through Sneakers canon at the moment, I thought I'd post the list I've come up with for a supplementary soundtrack.
It'll make a lot more sense if you've actually seen the movie, though I'm keeping my reasons for things as spoiler-free as I possibly can. Still, you may want to keep that in mind.

1) Change of the Guard - Steely Dan
(Marty and Cosmo in college, sort of. I think it fits, anyway.)

2) Pure and Easy - Pete Townshend
(WHISTLER.)

3) Get in Line - Barenaked Ladies
(The one song on this list that wasn't existent at the time of the film's release, but it fits Mother so well - whatever could they want from me? is it just a part of a giant government conspiracy? - that I just had to.)

4) We Gotta Get You a Woman - Todd Rundgren
(Don't ask why, but it reminds me of Carl. ...Wait, the why might be slightly obvious. XD)

5) Hey Jealousy - Gin Blossoms
(If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago, I might be here with you - Marty and Liz in a nutshell.)

6) Chain of Fools - Aretha Franklin
(Canon party music! Also known as these guys have no IDEA what they've gotten themselves into.)

7) If I Had a Million Dollars - BNL
(It's a bit cliche, I know, but how else do you sum up 'so, what're you going to do with your share of the money?')

8) Relay - the Who
(I think this sums up the power behind that little black box very well. And the 'it's all about the information' business.)

9) Business as Usual - Little Feat
(Why hello, Cosmo, nice to see you again. Or not.)

10) Eminence Front - the Who
('Forget it. It's a toy company.')

11) Burning Down the House - Talking Heads
(For the boiler room escapades.)

12) Fear is Never Boring - the Raisins
(There's a chase! And guns going off! This is perfectly valid, if rare.)

Special Milliways Bonus Track: Rockaria! - Electric Light Orchestra
(she's sweet on Wagner, I think she'd die for Beethoven - or, this is the song for Suzi.)
Current Music:
"Eminence Front" - the Who
